BIRD UNIT
We have a two week unit on birds in the spring.
The main concepts we teach during the unit is that all birds lay eggs and all birds have feathers. Not all birds can fly.
One goal is to have students identify at least 10 different birds: ostrich, eagle, penguin, cardinal, robin, hummingbird, pelican, Toucan, turkey, duck, chicken, etc.
We use lots of books, posters and pictures.
I am still looking for more useful internet sites to find bird pictures.
When I find useful pictures, I save them on a disk.
I have started a collection of disk for each unit I teach.
I copy and paste the pictures into a editing program such as Paint or Word. There I add large labels to the pictures.
I print the pictures to use on the bulletin board and in the writing center.
I also laminate the pictures so I can use them again next year.WEB SITES / BIRDS
