The kindergarten religion program is
composed of selected stories from the old and new testament. The old
testament is taught from August through November. The new testament is introduced
with the beginning of advent and taught the remainder of the year.
Bible stories are a favorite with
kindergarten children. The children are first introduced to the meaning of Who is
God, Where is God, Who is Jesus, What are Angels, What is a Spirit, What is a Soul, How do
we communicate with God, and How does God communicate with us.
The students begin learning about God
through the stories of the Old Testament. They learn about the Creation, Adam and
Eve, Noah,Tower of Babel, Joseph and his coat of many colors, Moses, Three young men in
the fiery furnace, Daniel in the Lions Den, David and Goliath, and Jonah.
The New Testament is introduced with the
Birth of Jesus. The history and teachings of Jesus are taught
through the stories of Jesus Lost in the Temple, The Wedding of Canaan, Jesus
Cures Jarius' Son, Jesus and John the Baptist, Jesus Cures the Blind Man and the Ten
Lepers, Jesus Chooses His Apostles, Jesus Calms the Storms, Jesus and the Fishermen, Jesus
Walks on Water, Jesus and Zaccheus, Jesus Raises Lazarus From the Dead,
The Parables, Jesus and the Little Children, Jesus Feeds the Multitude, Palm Sunday, the
Last Supper, the Arrest, Death and Resurrection of Jesus, the Appearances of Jesus
After Easter, The Coming of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus' Ascension back to Heaven.
The kindergarten children can begin to
understand the meaning of Jesus' teachings through studying these stories.
They learn that all life is precious and should be treated with respect.
Each lesson is taught through oral
reading and story telling along with numerous art activities. Roll playing and
re-enacting parts of the stories are also used.
